Tooronga Village is a residential, business and shopping precinct that opened progressively from late 2010 to early 2011 on the corner of Toorak and Tooronga Roads, Glen Iris. It is easily accessible from the Monash Freeway and approximately 7kms south east of the Melbourne CBD. It is built on the former site of the Tooronga Shopping Centre, which was closed in March 2008 for re-development by Stockland. The new complex covers the original shopping centre area and before this a drive-in theatre and an old brickworks site.

• The residential towers are in two buildings and total 297 apartments. In December 2011 in line with its general exit from the apartment sector, Stockland departed from the original plans of developing further residential buildings on the site, opting instead to sell 7.7 hectares of the undeveloped land back to Coles. This land is adjacent to their Head Office Complex built in 1986. A private visitor car park (B1 carpark) is accessed at the Coles public car park entry on the roundabout in Crescent Road. The roundabout can be accessed via either Toorak or Tooronga Roads. Access into the Private Carpark is by a resident’s swipe.
• The re-developed shopping centre opened in August 2010 and has a range of 22+ retail businesses, cafes and specialty shops in addition to a large Coles Supermarket and First Choice Liquor Store. The retail precinct is located on levels B2 and P1. Two public car parking entry points are via Crescent Avenue which is a service road that is accessed from Toorak or Tooronga Roads. There are 480 undercover parking spaces for shoppers and the first three hours are free.

• Many residents of Tooronga Village are aware that in recent years, the area at the south-eastern corner of Toorak and Tooronga Roads had been the site of a shopping centre and car park. Some may also remember that Coles’ office building in Toorak Road was built on land formerly occupied by a drive-in cinema. Following is some information about the previous history of the area.
